In 2001, Justin received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. A few months later, on his second day of work, Justin watched the World Trade Center fall from a white-walled gallery on 21st street. Like most New Yorkers it took Justin time to recover from the tragedy. It was during this fragile time that he found himself in San Marcus, Texas, searching for answers.

In a cramped trailer across the street from Mi Rey's Tacorriendo, a 200-pound reggae singer handed Justin a container of pink Kool-Aid. "Drink it," he said. It tasted stale. Beads of sweat formed on Justin’s brow. His eyes curled and his tongue dried. The room spun widely. From a poster on the ceiling a Buddha reached down and answered Justin’s questions.

Several hours later Justin was on a flight back to New York. He had renewed confidence. He knew where he belonged… and it was a little town called rock-n-roll. It was in 2004 that he joined a rock band. Life was good. Life was hard. Bottles were thrown and hearts were broken. Inevitably Justin learned a valuable lesson: Never accept a drink from a 200-pound Texan and, more importantly, never take the advice of a smooth-talking Buddha who praises the rejuvenating powers of rock-n-roll.

Justin eventually recovered and currently lives under the Brooklyn Bridge where he has returned to his first love: illustrating the adventures of his life and fantasy.
